AFSA has officially launched the School Leader Contract Library, a groundbreaking resource designed to support local union leaders in contract negotiations. Exclusively available to presidents of AFSA affiliate unions across the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, this library provides access to proven contract language, valuable insights and best practices from communities nationwide, strengthening bargaining efforts.
AFSA President Leonard P. Pugliese called the library a “game-changer” for local unions. “The School Leader Contract Library equips bargaining teams with the strategies and knowledge they need to navigate complex negotiations. This resource is the result of more than a decade of effort, turning a long-held vision into reality. It will strengthen our collective bargaining and improve outcomes for school leaders across the country—just another example of how we put words into action,” Pugliese said.
Through the platform, AFSA leaders can:
- Access proven contract language for key provisions such as job security, enhanced benefits and improved working conditions.
- Learn from successful strategies used by other unions, offering adaptable solutions for their own communities.
- Resolve persistent bargaining challenges using effective strategies and language that have worked in similar negotiations.
The library serves as an essential reference for AFSA local union presidents and bargaining teams, offering access to successful contract language and case studies. It highlights tested and proven strategies from previous negotiations, providing union leaders with innovative solutions to challenges they may face.
“This library is an invaluable resource for AFSA union presidents preparing for contract talks,” Pugliese added. “It provides access to proven language that has led to better agreements for our members. With this resource, we are poised to make greater strides in improving working conditions and advancing the rights of school leaders nationwide.”
The launch of the School Leader Contract Library marks a significant step in AFSA’s commitment to helping local AFSA unions achieve fair and effective contracts. By offering easy access to successful provisions, the library enables AFSA local union presidents to approach negotiations with confidence and a deep understanding of what works.
In a landscape where negotiations can be complex, the School Leader Contract Library empowers AFSA union leaders to strengthen their bargaining positions, address critical issues, and secure better outcomes for educators, administrators and students alike.
